Tienen Sugar Refinery "Sugar Man"

Case Study

“The Tienen Sugar Refinery puppet was created from ‘hardened’ sugar cubes that were connected with strings, rubber bands and glue. The little man was a live animation by a maximum of three puppeteers/animators. The technique is called puppeteering.
We had an animator for the legs, an animator for the arms and an animator for the body and head. The fun of puppeteering is that you immediately see the result and can therefore trigger interaction between, for example, the sugar puppet and a young girl. The only thing left to do in post-production, was to paint away the sticks (the rigging).â€
